Girls Basketball:

The girl’s basketball team is currently 4-2 in their overall standings, and are undefeated in conference games with a score of 2-0. The girls had back to back games on December 6 and 7. On the 6, the girls won by a landslide against Waukegan with a final score of 73-47, while on the 7 the girls had a closer game with a score of 48-41. Last Tuesday, December 3, the team won against Mundelein with a score of 50-37, with the Bears leading in every quarter. The week prior to that, the team won against Rolling Meadows, with a final score of 37-26. The girl’s next game is December 7 against Nazareth Academy.

Boys Basketball:

The team started off the season strong with three straight wins in a row. While competing against Lakes, Richmond-Burton, and Crystal Lake South in tournament games, Lake Zurich came out on top each time. However, on December 3, the team suffered their first loss against Saint Viator with a final score of 34-29. Lake Zurich has a chance to bounce back next week, December 10, when the team goes against Zion Benton in a conference game.

Gymnastics:

The girl’s gymnastics team recently had their first conference meet against Lake Forest and Warren. All Lake Zurich teams came out with a first-place prize, with varsity having a first meet score of 138.65. The girls have their next meet Wednesday against Libertyville.

Wrestling:

The boy’s wrestling team started their season off with a simple Blue-White match, meaning Lake Zurich vs. Lake Zurich. The team then went 2-1 on November 30, which started off their season strong. They also won over Zion Benton this previous Friday with a score of 40-30.  “The goal right now is just to go day by day and make sure we get better every day,” Joey Mrazek, senior. “We have a lot of emerging talent, especially in the freshman who have had a great start to the year.”

Poms:

The poms’ team has only had two competitions this year: one at Middleton high school, where they placed second in their hip hop routine, and a home invitational where they competed extremely well. After winning state for the past two years, the team has large shoes to fill.

Cheer:

The varsity cheer team has not had any competitions so far, but you can catch them at their first one at Lemont High School.

Bowling:

The boys and girls bowling team have been playing extremely well this season. For the girls team, they have won their matches against Libertyville and Mundelein, however they lost matches against Warren and Wauconda. Last weekend the boys and girls team competed in the Palatine Holiday Tournament, where the girls team placed 6 out of 18 teams.
