Local kids participate in an Easter egg hunt. NHS volunteers will be helping out at this year’s Bunny Brunch and Egg Hunt, held at Paulus Park.

Every-bunny is talking about a local bunny brunch, where NHS members will assist in creating an eggstraordinary event.

NHS members will help run Paulus Park’s annual Bunny Brunch and Egg Hunt this Saturday, March 24. The events are hop-pening from 8-1, with the Bunny Brunch featuring a buffet and photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny, and the Egg Hunt as a chance for kids to find hidden Easter eggs around Paulus Park. At both events, NHS volunteers will be egg-sential to ensure success, according to McKenna Toussaint, senior NHS member who will be volunteering at the event.

“I’m a piece of the puzzle,” Toussaint said. “[The organizers] need a certain number of volunteers, so I’ll help to supervise kids or if they need help with set up, I’m there to make sure that it runs smooth, and help out with anything else that [the event] might need.”

Volunteers like Toussaint are just one egg-sample of NHS helping the local community, according to Emma Root, NHS vice president of service.

“A lot of these local events rely heavily on willing volunteers in order to take place,” Root said. “NHS is a great coordinator for promoting high school student involvement in volunteering for local events, and helping to give back to our community.”

This will be Toussaint’s second time giving back to the community at the Bunny Brunch, and she says she is egg-cited to return.

“I’m excited about getting to be at a fun community event,” Toussaint said. “It’s fun because it’s really cool to see the community come together as one.”
