The co-captains of the Ultimate Frisbee Chris Desort and Martin Niemiec, have been playing on the team for several years and try to instill positivity in their teammates and motivate them as much as possible, according to the captains.

Q: What is the best part about being a part of this team?
Niemiec: I’d say the people that you meet, your teammates. We’re like a family here that cares for each other. I think it’s the friends you make that are the most important part.

Q: What is not as fun to experience while being a part of this team?
Desort: There’s a lot of drama. There has been some dating on the team and it’s not a bad thing, but when they separate it’s a little weird. Sometimes both will continue with the sport so they’ll see each other at practice and it gets kind of awkward.

Q: What has been your favorite moment while on the team?
Niemiec: I’d say when we won this huge competition we made against Barrington because we don’t win a whole lot. We’re a pretty small team, so we have to work hard for all of our wins. That game was our best game ever.

Q: What is Ultimate Frisbee all about?
Desort: Basically Ultimate Frisbee is a very spirited game. We do spirit circles after every game and then talk about how well everyone did. It’s a really good sport.

Q: After a tough loss, how do you keep your team positive and spirited?
Niemiec: Fortunately for us, Ultimate kind of has [a naturally positive attitude] attitude. No team is ever going to be rude to you. After losing, they’re going to say, ‘good game. good job.’ So you never feel bad for losing. We just tell everyone, ‘good job and try harder next time.”
