Since the beginning of the Russia-Ukraine war on February 24, Ukraine has been able to fight back against the aggressor, which Rudy Tabachnik, first-generation Ukrainian-American senior, believes is not only due to foreign aid. “It’s also definitely the resilience of the people. If theres one thing thats true, its that the people that are fighting there are fighting, and they are fighting for their country. The Ukrainians passed a law in the beginning days of the war that able-bodied men 16 to 60 need to stay there and fight, so I think that there are a whole bunch of factors as to why theyve lasted this long, but I think Russia didnt expect whats going on. To a degree, I think that they really didnt expect the amount of resilience coming from the Ukrainian people.”
