Poms got second at State

The LZ Poms team went to State for dance on Saturday, January 30, and received second place.

“[To get ready for State we] all worked really hard together to come up with creative ideas for choreography,” Isabel Young, senior, said. “We took the notes we got from judges at competitions and came back to practice during the week and worked on all the little sections we had to clean up.”

According to Angela Gaggiano, junior, the Poms team switched divisions this year because school enrollment dropped. Even though there was a division switch and the team competed against different schools than usual, they still were able to receive second at State.

“[Going to State] was amazing,” Gaggiano said. “All of our hard work truly paid off, and it was even better alongside all of the support we received this weekend from not only the Lake Zurich community, but other teams throughout the state as well.”

Since the Poms team got third at State in 2015 and second at State in 2016, Gaggiano said she thinks the team will be able to get first next year if they keep working at it like they have been.
