Blue Notes and Bare Voices perform a holiday song together during last December’s concert. The group will meet up onstage again this Thursday with a new concert theme.

There’s something palpable to be felt in the air this February, and it’s not the gusto surrounding National Pistachio Day. No, the tension is none other than the buzz around a multi-choir concert taking place tomorrow!

The concert is being performed by not one but two choirs at Lake Zurich.

“Blue Notes is a show choir, so [Bare Voices and we] are dancing and singing together. The theme of this concert is pop icons, so we’re doing songs by well-known pop artists like Lady Gaga. Bare Voices is also doing the same thing with their songs,” Annie Gross, junior Blue Notes performer, said.

A collaboration between the two groups is taking place during one song in the performance.

“We’re doing [a] song together–Man in the Mirror–so we’re dancing and singing the acapella because Bare Voices is an acapella choir,” Gross said. “We’re doing something together to show both of our strengths.”

The concert reflects both of the groups’ singing talents as they’re showcasing both of their talents within one night, and the group members are practically singing with elation over the upcoming event.

“I’m excited because everyone gets to get together and put together a very cool [concert]!” Nicholas*, senior Bare Voices performer, said.

Blue Notes and Bare Voices have been working on the production for over two months, since just before Winter Break. With rehearsals done and the show underway, it’s a production the entertainers anticipate.

“Performing is really powerful and seeing the audience and how much they enjoy what we do [is moving],” Gross said.

The concert takes place on Thursday, February 28th at 7:30 in the Lake Zurich High School Performing Arts Center.
