Astronomy club is out of this world

Even with almost 40 clubs for students to choose from, another club with a focus on astronomy was created this year.

Astronomy is defined as the branch of science that deals with celestial objects, space, and the physical universe as a whole. Tarun Sriram and Bartosz Wielgos, juniors, started the club for students interested in astronomical physics.

“We want all the club attendees to understand more about astronomy and physics. We just want an open space where people can debate on theories in astronomy and physics.” Sriram said.

Nicole Collins, science teacher,  along with several other science teachers, leads and sponsors the club. Meetings are held in various rooms in the S hallway.

The club meets every third Wednesday of every month after school. At meetings,  students have the freedom to express their opinions in this club due to the fact that astronomy is mainly theory based.

“Everything in astronomy and physics is mainly theory based, so we’d like just to discuss about that and provide knowledge for anyone that is curious.” Sriram said.
