Band takes the PAC stage for the holidays
The holidays are back on the PAC stage with the concert band, symphonic band, and wind ensemble performing multiple holiday tunes for all ages.
“My favorite song that we are playing is ‘The Grinch’ because it’s ‘The Grinch’ obviously,” Hannah Dinse, senior trombonist in Symphonic Band, said. “It is just really fun playing that song and we are so used to hearing it from when we were little and watching the movie every year.”
Symphonic band concert is on December 15 and will be performing “Loch Lomond,” “Grinch,” and “The Mountains Echoed Gloria,” featuring the French horns and trumpets along with an oboe and bassoon solo.
“It’s our first concert and I am looking forward to seeing how far we have come and seeing how much we still need to grow,” Dinse said.
This being the first concert of the year, Josh Thompson, band director had brought in a professor from another college to critique the bands to give them advice on how to improve and give them more feedback on how they sounded overall.
“We have worked on blending our sound together,” Dinse said. “So one section is not just sticking out because that would sound really bad, so we have to know each other’s parts and know when to be quieter for our audience.”
Wind Ensemble will be performing “Eviler Evils,” “Metamorphosis,” “Eternal Father,” and “Shadow Falls.”
