Singing is a reCHOIRment: LZHS hosts the annual District Choral Festival

What do all the District 95 elementary, middle, and high schools have in common? They all have students who love to sing! Lake Zurich High School hosted the 18th annual District 95 Choral Festival with more than 700 LZ voices this past Saturday.

All elementary and middle schools along with five of the high school’s choirs sang at the concert. Nancy Polancich, a retired Isaac Fox elementary school choir director, was also a guest conductor for the concert.

Nathan Holbrook, junior Bare Voices member, says that it is rewarding to watch his own personal growth and transition from elementary to high school.

“I personally loved singing for the middle schoolers in Bare Voices because I remember being in middle school and listening to Bare Voices sing to us and thinking ‘Wow, I want to do that someday,’” Holbrook said.  “And now it was very fulfilling for it to come full circle.”

All 700 singers sang “The Rhythm of Life” by Dorothy Fields and Cy Coleman and “Another Op’nin’, Another Show” by Cole Porter and Philip Kern as a mass choir.
