This year the PAC will not have the sounds of good music, a cheering audience, and great musicians. Battle of the Bands has been canceled.

Six years ago Marcel Graham, Performing Arts Center Tech, took over Battle of the Bands, Technical Theater Club’s fundraiser, but he has never had to cancel it before.

“After a month of trying to get bands, we only received two,” Graham said. “Above Four, [signed up]which was last year’s winners, and Nova’s Angels, which would have been a new band this year.”

Even though Battle of the Bands has been canceled, Graham still has another idea to let them perform.

“Normally we do battle of the bands, and then in early March we do a Battle of the Bands winner’s performance,” Graham said. “So I’m [allowing] the bands split that performance in March.”

Above Four already confirmed that they will do the March 3 concert, according to Graham. The concert has been pushed back to March in order to allow both bands 45 minute sets, rather than the usual 11 minute sets for Battle of the Bands.

The lack of bands this year most likely resulted from the graduating of many senior musicians last year, according to Graham.

“This type of show is always an ebb and flow type of situation,” Graham said. “One year we’ll have 11 bands, and the next we’ll have five.”

Even though this year has had the least amount of bands, Graham is confident this drop in bands will not last long.
