Choir students practice for their final bows of the year. They work on choreography and polishing the vocals as the concert date quickly approaches.

Music is not everyone’s forte, but the  Bare Voices and Blue Notes concert is in tune with what the students want. The students will be singing a wide variety of songs ranging from modern day pop to spiritual gospel Rachel Sobol, senior in Bare Voices, said. This will be one of the most causal shows of the year pertaining to how the students dress.

“Bare Voices will be wearing our choir t-shirts and jeans. Blue Notes, however, will be changing throughout the show to keep things interesting,” Sobol said. “The clothes we wear kind of signify that this is the end of the year because of how casual it is and because of how unusual it is for us to be formal.”

The casual wear will help “cymbalize” how the year is coming to a quick close, especially for the seniors. This will be their last performance with the choir which makes the concert bitter sweet, Lara Kolb, junior in Blue Notes, said. The lessons and skills they learn from choir will carry on throughout their lives along with the memories they made.

“I’ve learned so much information from choir that can be used outside the classroom,” Sobel said. “I’ve learned how to become passionate enough about something that I can put a hundred and ten percent into it and always make it my best work. I think this skill is extremely useful in life for basically everything.”

The choir students have been practicing for three months in preparation for this event which will be taking place on May 19 at 7:30pm in the PAC. If they don’t fall flat, their singing will be in unison and sure to give everyone chills, Kolb said.

“We’ve put a lot of effort into this performance,” Kolb said. “I think we want everyone to leave on a happy note and I feel everyone will try their best to make their last concert the best it can be.”
