Bare Voices and Blue Notes performed their concert last Thursday. Their theme was “Dancing through the Decades,” with songs throughout all eras.

Bare Voices and Blue Notes performed their February concert Thursday. The theme of the concert was “Dancing through the Decades,” with performances that incorporated songs ranging from the 1900’s to today. Bare Voices also had an audience feature that allowed volunteers to come up and sing “Old MacDonald” with the group.

The number, which included a wide array of animal noises, was a hilarious starting song for the concert. The choir was nervous before the show because their shows usually never directly include the audience. But it all turned out great in the end, according to Kelly Schwantes, junior

Besides “Old MacDonald,” other songs included “Take Me Out to the Ball Game,” “Autumn Leaves,” and “Don’t Know Why.” Both groups had many soloists of all ages, including but not limited to freshmen Elizabeth Crutchfield and Delaney Katz, juniors Zane Chung Medhi and Caitlyn Bertrand, and Addie Howell, senior.

While Blue Notes had a wide variety of costumes ranging from raincoats for “It’s Raining Men” to striped jail shirts for “Jailhouse Rock,” Bare Voices stuck to their decade costumes for the entire concert.

Seeing everyone in their decade-related costumes for the first time was neat,” Schwantes said. “It really added a layer to our performance that we don’t usually get. And the audience enjoyed it too, I think.”

Schwantes is a first year Bare Voices member along with Kayla Nuccio, junior Blue Notes member

“It was absolutely incredible to be able to “go back in time” and be able to portray different decades,” Nuccio said. “I loved performing in all of the scarfs and costumes. My favorite part was being able to see the reactions on people’s faces when we performed and know the audience loved it.”
