Craving Gyros opening soon in downtown Lake Zurich
Craving Gyros is expected to have a large menu with a wide variety of options, according to Koliopoulos. Some of the menu items include hamburgers, polish sausages, hotdogs, Italian beef, salads, french fries, and of course, gyros.
Craving Gyros, a new Greek-style restaurant, has taken place of previous hot dog restaurant, Delicious Redd’s in downtown Lake Zurich.
Some students like, Caitlyn Maskalunas, senior and employee of My Flavor It Place, were shocked to hear about the sudden closing of Delicious Redd’s.
“We were so close with [Delicious Redds],” Maskalunas said. “ [The departure] was so sudden. I just came in one day, and they told me that they had just been sold. I was surprised.”
After being in the business since 1978 and owning other locations like Tasty Spin in Buffalo Grove, Niki Koliopoulos, co-owner of Craving Gyros, says she is “excited to open in Lake Zurich”. According to Koliopoulos, her and her husband, Bill Koliopoulos, owner of Craving Gyros, had been planning to expand due to the amount of customers located in Lake Zurich.
“We like the area, and we have a lot of friends here. The people [from Offbeat Music Store]: we have known them for 35 years,” Koliopoulos said. “They are our customers, so they were always telling us to come and open something here. We decided to try it.”
Craving Gyros is expected to open in late September with hours from 11am to 9pm, according to Koliopoulos, however, exact opening and closing times are still being determined by the owners.
