Medical science club offers opportunities for students

Students are given the chance to meet professionals and learn about the real world in any medical field every other week . The Medical Science Club  meets every other Friday morning in the Anatomy room, S133, at 7:20.

“We meet every other week and discuss medical topics and once to twice a month we have a guest speaker come in and talk to us about their job,” Brian Gorke, junior, said. “We have had a cardiologist, a nano scientist as well as a physical therapist so far this year. Anyone in the school can get involved and join at any time.”

Students can be better informed and can gain interest and knowledge in different medical fields.

“Some benefits of attending are that you will get to experience various fields of medicine in ways beyond the classroom,” Gorke said. “I joined the club as I was once interested in pursuing physical therapy or sports medicine. Through the guest speakers, I was able to learn more about this profession through professionals in the industry.”

The medical science club wants to give students the opportunity to learn and speak with professionals to help students figure out their futures.

“I think the students should join the club because they can learn more about medicine or science or anything really in the medical field, it is not just doctors,” Nelly Fonarev, junior, said.

According to Fonarev,  the club will go over topics that the students want “which is nice because you feel like you are really contributing and making a difference.”

“I love all the people that are involved in the club, especially with Miss. Price,” Fornarev said. “She is really nice and she will help you with anything. Also the club was really focused on helping everyone and we will do what everyone wants to do. For example, we bring in the people they want to see and we do the events the club wants to do, so I have a really good experience at the club.”
