Orchesis show coming soon

The Orchesis dance troupe will perform February 12 and 13 in the PAC at 7 pm. This year the girls have been perfecting their performance that includes different dance choreography, their annual kids workshop, and a finale piece.

“I think it is a really unique way to see all of these girls from different types of dancing backgrounds to come together and put on a performance like this because it creates a very dynamic performance. Everything kind of just comes together at the very end,” Kristen Drollinger, Spanish teacher and Orchesis co-sponsor, said.

The Orchesis girls will be presenting an accumulation of everything: from working with the children’s workshop to dances created by special choreographers, including their final piece, and some other fun additions in there too.

“There is a lot of fun involved in the preparing of the show too, especially going over the dances,” Lexi Karwowski, freshman Orchesis member, said.

“The dances are created by choreographers who come in two times a week,” Drollinger said.  “There are normally four who come in a will teach dances to the girls. The girls have also auditioned to create their own dances.”

One of the other additions in the show is the slideshow which includes pictures over the course of the year of different events in which the Orchesis girls have worked with, fundraisers, or events like the homecoming show. Its shows everyone just how much fun the girls really have in Orchesis, according to Drollinger.

“The slideshow is made up of pictures from the talent show/rehearsals and include twinning pictures and a bunch of other goofy ones. They are a really fun part of the show,” Karwowski said.

Finally the finale piece is the dance where everyone is Orchesis comes together as a big group and performs.

“The song for the finale piece this year is “Dancing Downtown” by Macklemore. The whole group just dances altogether,” Drollinger said.

Drollinger says she is very excited for the performance and how it will turn out this year. Tickets will be $6 for students and $8 for adults.

“I am really excited for the show,” Drollinger said. “And am looking forward to seeing you all there.”
