Every year during Homecoming week, a few football players at LZHS coach a girls football game for everyone to enjoy.  Girls football is an annual fundraiser where junior and senior femal athletes play football to raise money for the school.  Boy football players coach the girls football teams.

“Getting to see how well girls play football, since they may not always play, [is the best part of coaching],” Jacob Carlson, senior.  “I like coaching [girls football] because it’s nice to teach someone else something you spend a lot of your time doing.”

Carlson coached the powderpuff team last year, and is planning to coach again this year.

“I [got involved in girls football] because my [football] coaches said we could coach [the girls] after practice, and I thought it’d be fun,” Carlson, who plays center, said.

Even though Carlson says he likes playing football more than coaching, he said he likes being able to coach someone else instead of always being taught because it helps him more with the way he understands football.

“[Even though coaching is fun,] getting to play side by side with my brothers every week is the best part of football,” Carlson said.
