Friday’s friendly faces

Poms greets students at the main entrance. They’re building hype for their upcoming season.

Friday mornings are a sort of love/hate relationship. On one hand it’s finally Friday, but let’s not forget it’s still 7am. Student Council has a new initiative to get you through the day. Every Friday there will be a sports team, club, or administrators to greet you at the door.

“The idea is that the organizations greeting will get publicity for their game or club stuff, and the students will benefit because it’s another way to hear more about what’s happening around school,” Christopher Bennett, student council sponsor, said. “For example, the way it could work is the girls and boys basketball could greet before a double header.”

This is a new thing for Student Council but it definitely had a positive student reaction on Friday.

“I think it’s always nice to see a friendly face in the morning and it’s just one of the many plans Student Council has worked on  over the summer to unify the school,” Jessie Houghton, sophomore Student Council member, said.

That’s exactly the goal for the Friday greeters: to unify the school even more by keeping everyone up to date with events.

“This sounds like something that is beneficial for everyone,” Hannah Smith, senior, said, “because the clubs are getting out there and the students finally get to know what’s actually happening in school.”
