Not just a walk in the park

police explorer (Medium)The band will be marching in Lake Zurich’s Memorial Day Parade this year.

Although the May 25th date may seem far off, members participating are already excited for the event.

“It is always an honor to be able to serve our country and community with our music in something as small as a parade,” Mark Schwartz, senior, said.

The thought of playing throughout the streets of LZ may seem daunting, this is nothing new to the returning band members, who hope to pass on some of their experience to the freshmen in the arrangement.

“The biggest obstacle would probably [be] the freshmen in the band; they have never marched in a parade before, so it will be difficult to get them up to speed in time for the parade given our limited amount of rehearsal time,” Schwartz said.

Difficult but not impossible, the task ahead will be met with hours of practice as well as marching around the field house everyday to maintain proper form as they have done all year, according to Schwartz.

The seniors once again will relish in all of the practice in preparation for their last performance of their high school careers.

“I’m glad that our last “performance” as seniors this year is the parade, because it’s not as formal as a concert but still allows us to play a ton of great music,” Schwartz said. “It truly encompasses the fun and dedication of band.”
