Physics field trip postponed due to weather

Students may look forward to the annual Physics snow tubing field trip, but they’ll have to wait a bit longer. The field trip was canceled earlier this week due to the extreme weather.

The field trip, originally scheduled for February 19, has been rescheduled to February 25, according to Peter Kupfer, Physics teacher.

“This is only the second time we have ever had to postpone our trip due to weather. The first time it was too warm, oddly enough,” Kupfer said.

Even though news of the cancellation upset students, Sangami Pugazenthi, junior Physics student, said she was happy they would not have to be outside or even at school during this cold day.

“I was sad the trip was cancelled, but it would not have been fun to go when it was so cold,” Pugazenthi said. “It is being rescheduled anyway, so the day off from school was nice.”

The purpose of this field trip was to provide students a connection from the Physics curriculum to real world situations, Pugazenthi said.

“We have been learning about kinematics, forces, and energy which all can be used to calculate different things while tubing,” Pugazenthi said. “It’s supposed to be the best part of Physics, so I’m really excited to go.”
