Young musicians will compete their way to the top in Battle of the Bands

Young, undiscovered artists in music will be performing this Wednesday, October 15, in the PAC at 7pm.

“Battle of the Bands is a showcase of all the talent in our school. Since the bands don’t get a lot of publicity, they can show themselves here,” Cira Galloway, senior and president of the Tech Theater club, said.

There will be seven bands performing this year: Sound Fu5ion with Eric Auster; Justice with Sarah Shapero; Beyond Gravity with Keil Brady, Shane Brady, Erol Hasanof, Jared Bacardi, Ryan Peterson, Cooper Kleinke, and Jackson Pryhuber; Asgard in Flames with Cooper Kleinke, Erol Hasanof, Collin Beaver, Michael Krupp, and Mike Bliss; Elementary with Jesse Dever, Zach Keller, and Kevin Gallagher; Feed the Mouse with Matt Wang, Brian Etienne, and Michael Horita; and Live Tonight. The award to the winner will be a private concert to perform all their music.

“My confidence level is pretty high, I’ve played the last two years and you get used to the stage, you actually miss it too when you’re not playing,” Erol Hasanof, junior and drummer of Beyond Gravity and Asgard in Flames, said.”We put a lot of time into our music and the bands I’ve played have done extremely well, so hopefully it’ll be an easy competition.”

Last year, the Tech Theater club made around $1,000 from the event and used the money to support the club.

“Around 200 people came last year and we are expecting more this year,” Galloway said.

Tech Theater club and Student Council are working together this year for the Battle of the Bands performance. The money raised this year will be donated to Charity Bash.
