The Lake Zurich Lions Club holds an in-town festival called Alpine Fest that is held for 3 days, spanning from July seventeenth through the nineteenth.
The festival has a variety of rides and activities that you can enjoy during the summer with your friends. Alpine Fest is a perfect opportunity to see your friends from Lake Zurich High School over the summer.
“I love seeing [my friends] at Alpine Fest, it’s just so fun to go on all the rides and play the games. The experience is worth it and so is the atmosphere with all the people there. I go almost every year and it never gets old,” Ashley Johnson, sophomore, said.
Alpine has been running since 1945, making this year the 80th anniversary of Alpine Fest. Many kids, teenagers, and adults go every year, making the event very busy and crowded.
“It’s nice to see people from school that I don’t usually hang out with at Alpine Fest, seeing a lot of people I know can be a bit worrying but other than that I always end up having a good time at Alpine,” Johnson said.
Johnson believes that the Lake Zurich Lions Club should try to add more variety, games, concessions, and rides to Alpine Fest to keep up interest and variety. Katie Szwec, sophomore, agrees that they should at least add more rides.
“I enjoy going to Alpine Fest, but just going on the same rides every year tends to get a little boring and it is just less exciting to go each year,” Szwec said.
Though Szwec and Johnson believe that they should add more rides, they also understand why it could be difficult to add more, but they think they should try considering there hasn’t been a new ride in who knows how long.
“They brought back an old ride this year, but it isn’t exactly a new ride. It’s just a recycled one that they decided to remove two or three years ago. It would be nice if they tried to put more effort into this but I understand why it would be hard to add new rides since they probably take a long time to build and the expenses of constructing it,” Johnson said.
Both Szwec and Johnson believe that the Lake Zurich Lions Club should try to add a new ride at least every 3 years so there’s new stuff for the visitors to look forward to when visiting Alpine Fest.
“Other than that, Alpine Fest is a very exciting event to look forward to in the Summer, it’s so much fun being able to hangout with my friends and go on rides with them and play the games that we probably won’t win, but the experience and atmosphere is really worth it, especially at night time,” Szwec said.
