With five games under their belt so far, the girls’ lacrosse team is moving forward in their season and working towards their goal of maintaining a 70 percent win ratio.

So far this season, the team has won against St. Charles East, Fremd, and St. Ignatius High Schools, and lost against Glenbard West and Oak Park-River Forest High Schools, according to Emily Gillespie, junior attacker.

In order to win more games and work better together on the field, the team as a whole has been working to improve their team bonding skills. As a team, their main goal is to rank in the top 15 teams in the State, according to Gillespie.

“We’ve been trying to bond outside of practice by [hanging out] after practices,” Gillespie said. “Plus, we’re putting in one hundred percent at practice, staying conditioned, and encouraging each other to work harder, to try again, and to not give up.”

For Gillespie, the work ethic and dedication she has seen from her teammates during practice and games reminds her of several popular movies.

“I think we’re like Sandlot because we all work well together on and off the field and we are always here for each other,” Gillespie said. “[I think we are also like] The Hunger Games because we don’t give up without a fight.”SH_GirlsLax (Small)
