Last home football game to take place tonight

IMG_0040 (Medium)Senior year is defined by a list of lasts, and some seniors are experiencing their last home football game on Thursday, October 2.

The theme for the game is blackout and against Stevenson. This will be the last chance for the team to compete and for the band, poms, and cheerleaders to perform for their home crowd for the 2014-2015 school year.

The football team has worked hard the past couple of days to prepare for the game on Thursday.

“We need[ed] to get more done during our practices due to the lack of the extra day,” Trevor Staley, senior captain, said.

For the last home game, all of the seniors get to go out on the field with their parents and are introduced before the game, according to Staley.

The band will be performing their last home halftime show, with a color guard feature, Skyfall.

“We’ll be showing off our ‘band dance’ that never fails to entertain the crowd,”Claire Trumbull, senior trombone section leader, said, “Our color guard has a gorgeous routine and a few other tunes that you won’t want to miss.”

This will be a happy but emotional milestone for their end of high school for the seniors.

“Its always emotional knowing that our time is coming to an end, but it’s also fulfilling looking back on all that you have done and accomplished throughout all four years,” Staley said.

Even though the game will be over by Friday, the football season memories will last a long time, according to Trumbull.

“The memories we carry from marching are some of our all time favorite high school experiences,” Trumbull said, “I’ve found so much joy in making music with my remarkable classmates.”
