Delicious Redds, average hot dog joint

A local Lake Zurich hot dog joint, Delicious Redd’s, isn’t as appetizing as it sounds.

Arriving a bit before opening time, an employee came out of the restaurant to inform the customers that they would be opening within a few minutes. When the doors finally opened, the uncleaned floors and windows caught everyone’s eye. Shoe prints were visible on the tile, as well as some hand prints and streaks on the window. There were also small crumbs on the table.

The service wasn’t all that great, either. Some customers had to constantly ask for necessities, like ice from the soda machine. Plastic knives were the only utensils available to customers at the front counter. However, the food was prepared very fast, even with a large line of customers.

Using bathrooms in the restaurant was not very pleasant. Many people tend to wash their hands before a meal, but customers were not able to do so. Although it had been filled with soap, the soap dispenser was broken. The room with only one light bulb made it very hard to see.

The food and the interesting biker theme was the only thing that kept the place alive. The fries were great, and the customers had the opportunity to see the employees cut the potatos into slices, and place them in the fryer. Hot dogs, like the Chicago Style Dog, or the Maxwell Polish Sausage were not very authentic, but the flavor was still good.

“We wanted to bring back a basic hot dog stand,” Bob Narcisi Jr., one of the owners of Delicious Redd’s, said.

With reasonable food prices and the amount of food you get for your money, Delicious Redd’s is succeeding in becoming a basic hot dog stand. However, while Redd’s is a sitdown restaurant, there are definitely some things that need to be changed.
