Student section selling shirts to benefit cancer research

The student section is selling t-shirts for different theme days, and a portion of the money is going to various charities.

There are three different t-shirt designs that correspond with certain themes throughout the football season. The three designs are benefiting charities for breast cancer, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma.

Each of the t-shirts colors represents one of the three different types of cancer.

“The blue shirt represents multiple myeloma, the black shirt represents leukemia, and the pink shirt represents breast cancer,” Drew Kowalski, senior and student section leader, said.

According to Kowalski, The blue shirt is worn for the blue-out theme against Mundelein on September 19, the black shirt is worn for the black-out theme against Stevenson on October 2, and the pink shirt is worn for the pink-out theme against Warren on October 17.

The student section will be selling the t-shirts. Individual shirts cost eight dollars, but two shirts can be bought for fifteen dollars, and three shirts can be bought for twenty dollars. The discount prices are only available until Friday, September 5.

“[Selling the t-shirts] is going to help raise a ton of money for each of the three charities,” Kowalski said. “We are selling around one thousand of each shirt.”
