Jenny Shodunke, junior:

“There’s been a couple instances of racism I felt at the school but then again it’s not been anything too malicious. An example that’s pretty general, [during] Black History Month, we’re always really active and talking about Black history, just certain looks or certain comments you hear in the hallway, some things that people probably wouldn’t say if they knew there was a black person nearby, they say it to other people, they don’t say it to me directly, but you definitely hear it,” Shodunke said. “You just see [racism] everywhere, you see it in the news, you see it even if you’re walking on the street. Maybe if you’re white, you’re not as in tune to it, but if you’re pretty much any other person of color besides white you’re gonna notice there’s racism, you’re going to see it wherever you go.”
