Google Play hits market

Google Play hits market

Share your documents, check your email, watch a video, or simply find an answer. Just Google it, Google Play it, that is. The new all-in-one entertainment hub brought to you by Google is here.

The Android Market switched over to Google Play in early March. Google Play was developed to compete with Apple’s iCloud, a way for Mac users to share information, music, and books on their devices.

“Google has a flexibility that Apple and Amazon don’t. Apple is locked into its own devices; Amazon has plenty of content, but doesn’t have the reach of Google when it comes to the ubiquity of Android,” wrote Keith Wagstaff, journalist for Time Magazine. “Google’s Android Market was already robust, boasting more than 450,000 different apps. The ability to buy them from your computer and then instantly have them sent to your phone and tablet is pretty appealing,”

The cloud is a popular feature of Google Play, along with the apps, books and movies.

Google Play’s information site says, “That’s the beauty of the cloud. You can read, listen, and watch all your favorite content anywhere you want. No software required and no wires or syncing needed, and the best part: the cloud is free to use.”

When you discover a new song, book, or app, the first thing you may want to do is share it with your friends. With Google Play, you can easily share posts about your favorite books, music, movies, games, or apps to your email,  text message or your circles on Google+, on your web enabled Android phone in a single click.

“The move represents Google’s anywhere strategy: the ability to access content from any Internet-connected device. Company executives have been talking about this for years. Now it’s a reality,” wrote Laurie Sullivan, journalist for Media Post, an online source for the latest tech trends.

Senior Miya Kakuda, has an Android Smartphone where with the new Google Play app. She is still in the process of learning the new features.

“The organization of Google Play is different than the Android Market,” Kakuda said. “I am still a little confused about the new features, like sharing apps and books on my laptop. I search for new apps all the time, so the amount of choices is great.”

Google Play will continue to grow as more apps are developed and more titles are added to their library. The multi-billion dollar company is always looking to enhance the experience for the search engine visitors, with the Google Doodles on their home page, YouTubing a music video, adding social network Google+, and now pressing play on a new venture to further take the Internet one click at a time.
