Rixton shows diversity in new album

Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Cody Simpson, and PSY all have something in common; manager Scott “Scooter” Braun. Braun, who finds most of his acts on YouTube, discovered the band Rixton from their cover of Chris Brown’s “Don’t Wake Me Up.”

The English band, made up of four members, formed with one goal in mind, to write huge pop songs with soul, according to Rixton member, Jake Roche, in an interview with Moxie. Their inspirations include Maroon 5 and Bruno Mars.

Rixton’s first studio album, Let The Road, is coming out January 6, but their singles “Me And My Broken Heart” and “Wait On Me” have been on the charts since they were released. Five of the twelve song on the album are now publicly available.

Rixton’s first single, “Me And My Broken Heart” was released to tease their album. The song shows off both the band’s vocals, and their musical ability. The upbeat song about break-ups incorporates ‘pop songs with soul’ that the band wanted to convey. The song features parts of Rob Thomas’ “Lonely No More.”

“We’ve been a huge fan of his, so we took a lot of inspiration from him and wanted to give him a tip of the hat,” Roche says, in an interview with Billboard.
