The team left the first quarter in the lead with a score of 7-0, when a storm delay forced everyone off the field and into the fieldhouse to wait for the storm to clear.

Almost an hour later, the game resumed. Early in the fourth quarter, Fremd was able to score a touchdown, tying the game 7-7.

With the score at 7-7 and four seconds left on the clock, Jake Kubin, junior, kicked a game-winning field goal to push Lake Zurich into the lead.

“The boys are working hard, which is very important, but we have to cut out on little mistakes. We turned the ball over three times. One of those resulted in our opponent scoring a touchdown, which happens in any level: high school, college, and professional,” David Proffitt, head football coach, said.

Lake Zurich will face Cary Grove at home this Friday, September 5, at 7:30pm.
