Even with a 20 minute delay, the band still made it in the school by 5:45 and out the door by 6:05.

This past weekend, the LZHS marching band went to Northwestern University for Band Day. Band Day is a day where multiple high school marching bands perform for the half time show along with the Northwestern marching band.

“I love Northwestern Band day because we get to perform on the Northwestern Football field with all the other bands and the Northwestern Band,” Natalie Cartright, junior alto saxophone player, said.

The bands played multiple songs, such as “NO” by Megan Trainor, “Victorious” by Panic at the Disco, and “Shut Up and Dance” by Walk the Moon.

“College fields are so much cooler than our high school field because there are way more people cheering us on,” Cartright said.

The band has been practicing for Band Day for about two weeks. They also got to work up close and personal with the Northwestern Band, splitting into instrument sections and getting to work with the Northwestern band members on the music.
