Color Guard performs at the Spring Assembly, an event dedicated to recognizing All-State musicians, athletes and featuring the Mr. LZ winner, Battle of the Bands winner, and the Talent Show winner.

Though the Spring Assembly is a reoccurring event hosted by the current Student Council officers every year, Allison Pahios, junior in Student Council and chair of Spring Assembly and others are trying to make the assembly more fun by making it into an awards show.

This year’s performers include All-State musicians, Battle of the Bands winner, Above Four and this year’s talent show winner, Cooking with Beyond Gravity.  Along with the musicians, there will be a performance from Robert Witkowski, senior and Mr. LZ winner and a teaser from the spring musical, Catch Me if You Can.

According to Bridget Tuckey, junior Student Council and chair of Spring Assembly, current Student Council officers seniors Merrick Howarth, and Megan Yerger, along with juniors  Kalynn Rhew, Emma Wenckowski, and Jemma Kim, will be hosting the the assembly this year.  In past years, the hosts have just read off names of students, but this year, it will be different.

“We’re trying to liven up [the Assembly] a bit and turn it into more of an awards show,” Pahios said. “[I want] everyone to think [the Assembly] is fun. I think it will be a good change from previous years and am excited to have something to look forward to in the spring.”

According to Pahios, the assembly will follow in the style of the Grammy’s Award Show where the performances and awards will switch off throughout the assembly.

Before and after the assembly, Student Council will play a slideshow with all pictures and tweets containing #lznation celebrating the debut of the hashtag earlier this year, according to Bridget Tuckey, junior Student Council Spring Assembly chair.
