LZHS hosts Summer Job Fair to encourage summer employment

Finding a place to be employed this summer is a long and complicated process. There are applications, interviews, but most students do not even know how or where to get started. Start here, where local businesses will visit the high school on April 10, from 8 to 3 to offer summer jobs.

“I was trying to make sure that we had places where they employ a lot of kids. The Village of Lake Zurich’s Public Works department will be coming – they’re looking for at least ten to twelve [new hires],” said Jeanette Greco, Career Site Mentor. Other companies that will be present at the fair include, but are not limited to, are Foglia YMCA, Culvers, Oberweis Dairy, and Jewel Osco.

This is the first job fair that LZHS has held, so Greco is excited to see how students take advantage of many companies meeting in one location, so students do not have to do anything before or after school hours.

“We’re hoping that the convenience of one place will provide an opportunity for these employers to get a lot of candidates,” Greco said. “I think that they could connect with a lot of these businesses and use these skills they’ve learned in other business classes to pursue a job that will be worthwhile for them.”
