Student Council members, along with other clubs, decorated the hallways throughout the school to prepare for Homecoming week. This year, Student Council has planned a new movie night to be included with events such as the girls’ football game, the boys’ varsity football game, and the Homecoming dance.

The all-new movie night is scheduled for Homecoming Week, along with the familiar theme days, the football game, and the dance.

On Thursday, September 18, an outdoor movie night will be held at LZHS on the football field, according to Amanda Buckstaff, senior and student council president.

“We’re getting big screens, and we’re going to project a movie on there. We’re not sure what the movie will be right now, but we’re thinking of having a voting period during lunch,” Buckstaff said.

The movie night on Thursday will begin around 8pm, and concession stands will be arranged. Buckstaff also suggests bringing blankets, chairs, and food.

“We made this event because we were thinking that it would help people get more involved,” Buckstaff said. “Making something new and taking out some of the old, like Turnabout, and bringing in new things.”

Monday, August 15 begins Homecoming Week. The theme day is Luau Late Start, followed by Tie-Dye Tuesday and Western Wednesday. Thursday, the day of the movie night, is also Color Wars themed. Freshman wear yellow, sophomores wear red, juniors wear green, and seniors wear pink.

Friday is Fanatic Fan Friday, which means blue-out– just go crazy. Wear as much blue as you possibly have,” Buckstaff said.

Wednesday, the junior and senior girls will play the Powder Puff football games. The Homecoming football game will begin at 7:30 pm on Friday, September 19, and the Bears’ opponent will be Mundelein High School. The dance will begin at 7:30 pm on Saturday in the main gym.
