Anthony Castonzo, Indianapolis Colts player, will arrive at the home football game against Fremd High School on Friday around 6 pm, according to Rolando Vazquez, athletic director. Castonzo will be signing autographs at the north end zone.

“Lake Zurich High School is recognizing him in his accomplishments as a college-student athlete and a professional athlete,” David Proffitt, P.E. teacher and head football coach, said.  Bill Castonzo, Anthony’s older brother, will present the award to him.

Castonzo was a first round draft pick to the NFL by the Colts in 2011. This was also the first time someone from Lake County was drafted in the first round by the NFL.

“One of the amazing things is his academics,” Vazquez said. Castonzo was a Rhode’s Scholar nominee—one nominated to earn an international postgraduate award to study at the University of Oxford—and his college major was biochemistry.

In high school, Castonzo played football and basketball. After graduating in 2006, he attended Fork Union Military Acadamy, and then received a scholarship to play football at Boston College.
