Little girl, big star

2-year old preschooler appears in presidential candidate commerical

October 19, 2016

This election has been one of many questions, the biggest being “Hillary or Trump?” One little girl, who proudly wears a Hillary button on her jacket, knows exactly who she is voting for. That is, if she were legally able to vote.

Apollonia Jacobs, Rosemary Caparelli’s two-year old granddaughter, has made it big after being featured in a commercial promoting the presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton.

“[The commercial] is about children making a difference and how Hillary wants to have children be her focus of her campaign,” Caparelli said. “The idea is that Hillary measures up.”

The minute long commercial highlights children graduating school, performing at recitals, playing at baseball games, and being measured against a wall. Apollonia is spotlighted in her grey polka dot shirt, thirty seconds in.

Apollonia said she felt “excited” when she realized she would be on TV. “I’m famous!” she said.

Apollonia was chosen to appear in the commercial after her mother entered a contest she found online, asking to enter home video clips of children being measured, Caparelli said.

Although this was Apollonia’s first time being aired on live television, she was happy with the outcomes, Caparelli said.

“[Apollonia] saw herself [on the television] and thought it was pretty cool, she was like ‘that’s me!’ Her mom told her it was on Youtube too, so she just kept wanting to watch it,” Caparelli said. “She is almost three and already a Hillary supporter. She saw a Trump sign and she said, ‘Not Trump, we are voting for Hillary.’”

Whatever the outcome of the the 2016 election is, Hillary can rest assured that she has one strong supporter.

“I think it will be pretty cool,” Caparelli said. “If Hillary is really the president, I think that it is cool that [Apollonia] is on a commercial for the first women president.”
